2013 Three Trends In The Watch Market

I have seen the Geneva and Basel exhibitions in early 2013, the ‘Watches and Miracles’ exhibition held in Hong Kong at the end of the year and the ‘Geneva Awards’ exhibition held in Beijing. Major brands also have independent watch brands I am impressed by the many new watches introduced. I think that this year’s new watch can be divided into three trends. One is that the big brand ‘eat the old’ digs rich resources to reinterpret classics, such as Cartier’s mysterious series, Blancpain’s Cagato, and Jaeger-LeCoultre’s No. 3, Lange’s super-complexity, IWC’s constant-power tourbillon, etc .; the other is a new technology based on high-tech interpretation, especially the application of new material silicon has reached its peak, such as Girard Perregaux’s constant-power escapement system, TAG Heuer’s Chronograph tourbillon, Omega’s antimagnetic watch, Breguet’s ultra-thin high-frequency tourbillon, etc .; the last one is the rise of independent watch brands. They give people a refreshing feeling with their unique technology. What impresses me most is ‘Deep Space’ three-axis tourbillon and ‘LCD’ time display. I think the development direction of these three watches will continue. Classic models based on traditional skills and concept models based on high-tech representing the forefront of the times will become strategic development trends of the brand.
