2014 marked the 150th anniversary of the sinking of the Confederate ship CSS Hunley. This submarine of the Confederate Navy played a historic role in the American Civil War. Ball Watch (BALL Watch) has always been loyal to the American tradition. With cutting-edge watchmaking technology, it has introduced a new Engineer Hydrocarbon Hunley model to pay tribute to this classic battle in modern naval history.
The hull of the Confederate ship Hanley is 12.04 meters long and 1.17 meters wide and weighs 8 tons. It was designed to attack ships from the north and block ports on the south. The whole ship was launched by a team of eight people turning a crank inside the ship. The submarine is equipped with an explosive called a ‘torpedo mine’ on the front pole. On February 17, 1864, at the port of Charleston, South Carolina (Charleston, South Carolina), the Confederate ship Hanley sank the USS Housatonic. After that, the Hanley sank with its crew. Although its combat time in the war was limited, the historic record of the Confederate ship Hanley proved its strengths and the danger of fighting in the water.
Engineer Hydrocarbon Hunley automatic series, hours, minutes, seconds, date, power storage display, black dial, BALL RR1201 automatic mechanical movement, 30 hours, minutes, seconds and surface inlaid with 30 self-luminous miniature gas lamps for night reading Time, shockproof: Pass 7,500Gs impact test, antimagnetic 4,800A / m, waterproof 200m, stainless steel case, diameter 42mm, thickness 17.30mm, pure ceramic luminous unidirectional rotating outer ring, anti-glare sapphire crystal glass, patent registration ‘Crown lock protection system’, patent-registered Amortiser® anti-vibration system, stainless steel strap-with patent-registered ‘foldable’ buckle and ‘extend system’, limited to 500 pieces.
Just like the Confederate ship Hanley as a pioneer, the new models of the Engineer Hydrocarbon series are equipped with epoch-making watch functions developed in recent years. The Amortiser® device, developed and patented by BALL Watch, protects the Swiss-made automatic BALL RR1404 movement from damage from external impacts. Generally more violent external impacts will cause a sudden and violent shaking of the rotor of the automatic watch, which is enough to damage the movement and even stop the watch completely. When playing sports such as golf, the wrist is repeatedly hit by external impacts when hitting the ball. In addition, the weight of the oscillating weight can affect the normal operation of the watch during this movement. To protect the heart of the watch, the Amortiser® anti-vibration system includes a protective ring enclosing a mechanical movement that absorbs the energy generated by side shocks. This protection ring also has anti-magnetic properties, which can prevent the movement from being affected by magnetic fields, thereby improving the accuracy of mechanical watches.
The Engineer Hydrocarbon Hunley model again uses BALL Watch’s advanced ceramic processing technology. Like the submarine instrument in ceramic timekeeping, the Engineer Hydrocarbon Hunley is equipped with a patented crown lock protection system, which makes the case more perfect. Make the watch more stable and accurate timekeeping.
Another feature of this Amortiser® anti-vibration system is its ingenious ‘rotating table top locking device’. Locking devices, such as aircraft propellers, are set at the bottom cover of the watch, allowing the wearer to activate or deactivate the lock-up function of the oscillating weight as required. The pendulum lock function can reduce the energy of frontal impact of the watch during the movement that will cause external impact, and also avoid transmitting this energy to the movement. In addition, when the oscillating weight is locked, the watch can still operate by relying on the power reserve of the movement. When the impact force is completely stopped, the pendulum can be unlocked and the automatic refining system can resume operation. BALL Watch is a further improvement of the Amortiser® anti-vibration system for the Engineer Hydrocarbon Hunley model. It is equipped with a power reserve indicator on the basin to show for the first time the movement of the movement after the Amortiser® anti-vibration system is locked. The Engineer Hydrocarbon Hunley model equipped with the Amortiser® anti-vibration system has been proven to be non-destructive if it falls from a height of 5.2 meters.
Engineer Hydrocarbon Hunley automatic series, hours, minutes, seconds, date, power storage display, black dial, BALL RR1201 automatic mechanical movement, 30 hours, minutes, seconds and surface inlaid with 30 self-luminous miniature gas lamps for night reading Time, shockproof: Pass 7,500Gs impact test, antimagnetic 4,800A / m, waterproof 200m, stainless steel case, diameter 42mm, thickness 17.30mm, pure ceramic luminous unidirectional rotating outer ring, anti-glare sapphire crystal glass, patent registration ‘Crown lock protection system’, patent-registered Amortiser® anti-vibration system, stainless steel strap-with patent-registered ‘foldable’ buckle and ‘extend system’, limited to 500
The Engineer Hydrocarbon Hunley model is equipped with a 42mm diameter stainless steel case with a Swiss automatic mechanical movement. Set the date display between 4 and 5 o’clock to provide date information other than the basic time signal. The black dial under the sapphire crystal is strikingly stylish. The combination of a coated flange on the dial and the minute scale provides a clear and striking depth to the watch. The bottom of the watch is engraved with the pattern of the Confederate ship Hanley, paying tribute to this memorable historical deed.
The chronograph lap uses a one-way rotation system, and even if the wearer accidentally touches it, it will not accidentally extend the correct default dive timing. BALL Watch fully utilizes its well-known self-luminous technology. The scale of the Arabic numeral font is inlaid with 3H self-luminous miniature gas lamps to enhance the legibility of the dial. 3H gas emits light naturally and continuously, so that the wearer can still read clearly in a completely dark environment. Through this cutting-edge technology in Switzerland, the self-luminous miniature gas lamp is 100 times brighter than traditional luminous paint without the need to rely on external light or energy. Other hour markers and hands on the dial are also inlaid with self-luminous miniature gas lamps.
The Engineer Hydrocarbon Hunley model again uses BALL Watch’s advanced ceramic processing technology. The ceramic timepiece is like a submarine instrument. The Engineer Hydrocarbon Hunley model has a water resistance of up to 200 meters. This model is equipped with a patent-registered crown lock protection system, which makes the case more perfect and also allows the watch to be more stable and accurate. All models in the Engineer Hydrocarbon series are equipped with this excellent feature to protect the movement part directly connected to the crown and reduce the impact of the watch from external impact. The rigorous construction and design of the Engineer Hydrocarbon Hunley model make the watch magnetically resistant to 4,800 A / m and able to withstand impacts up to 7,500 Gs. This model also has a gradually narrowing strap and a patent-registered triple folding buckle for BALL Watch. Today, BALL Watch continues to follow the established route of the brand, once again being identified as the leader in the history of watchmaking and modern adventure timepieces.
