Panerai Grandly Announces Guillaume Néry As Global Brand Ambassador

March 2018 — Guillaume Néry, a French freediving athlete who broke four world records and won the constant weight world free diving championship, was invited as Panerai brand ambassador. Established a two-year cooperative relationship with Panerai, and began with the digital short film of the third chapter of the ‘PANERAI TRAITS’ ‘Ocean’ to tell the historical origins between Panerai and Sea World. The film was released on March 20.

The French free diving expert dived into the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer near Nice, France in the film, showing his enthusiasm and talent for free diving through narration and stunning images. Nice is also home to Guillaume Néry’s birth, growth and promotion as the king of free diving.

Since Guillaume Néry was 87 meters free diving at the age of 20, breaking the first world record, he has repeatedly exceeded the limit of free diving. In 2015, he intends to break the world record again. Due to the measurement errors made by the organizer, the final record is 10 meters deeper than expected, creating an amazing result of 139 meters. Unfortunately, he lost consciousness when he was a few meters above the water, invalidating the record, but 139 meters is still the deepest diving distance in the history of free diving competitions.

In 2015, Guillaume Néry suspended the race, and has since traveled the world, and taught himself free diving techniques to promote his love of the ocean. His underwater images are popular in the world, and he co-produced Narcose, Ocean Gravity, Free Fall and Runnin with his wife. Among them, Runnin is a short film created for American singer Beyoncé, with a click-through rate of millions, helping to convey his diving activities and ideas to the world. Guillaume Néry regards diving as an internal experience, not only a way to explore the marine world, but also a way to learn about yourself, learn to face danger and loneliness, and to withstand the psychological and atmospheric pressure brought by the sea floor.

Guillaume Néry chooses Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic 3 Days Automatic Titanio, a professional diving anti-magnetic titanium watch (PAM1389) with a water resistance of 300 meters.
Guillaume Néry was born in 1982 in Nice, France. He is a professional free diver specializing in deep diving. He believes that free diving is not only a sport, but also a way to understand the true meaning of life, explore unknown areas, and challenge human limits.

He is only 14 years old and has fallen in love with free diving. With strong perseverance and patience, he gradually dives to deeper waters. In 2002, at the age of 20, he dived deep into the Villefranche-sur-Mer harbour in the Alpes-Maritimes to 87 meters, becoming the youngest world record creator in free diving history. From 2004 to 2008, he set three world records (96 meters, 109 meters and 113 meters). In 2008, Guillaume Néry won the world championship as a member of the French national team, and this was his first gold medal. In 2011, he won the world championship at the Freediving Individual World Championship in Kalamata, Greece, with a record of 117 meters. In 2015, he tried to challenge the world record for the fifth time and dived to 129 meters. Due to the organizer’s mistake, he accidentally dived to an amazing depth of 139 meters. Unfortunately, the record could not be officially confirmed by the organizer, but it is still recognized It is the deepest diving distance in the history of free diving competitions.

Today Guillaume Néry is fully committed to Sea World, dedicated to photography, short film production (Narcose, Ocean Gravity, Haven …) and writing (Profondeurs 2014 and Reconnexion 2019).
